Ethereum WABO

Ethereum is a blockchain network and platform for running software. Ether, usually written ETH, is its native cryptocurrency. The network, the asset and an application built on it are related but distinct things.

This WABO explainer introduces that vocabulary. It does not confirm that WABO uses Ethereum, runs smart-contract payouts or supports a particular token or network.

Ethereum and ETH are not interchangeable labels

Ethereum.org’s introduction describes a public blockchain on which applications and digital assets can be built. ETH is the native asset used in the network. A token implemented by an application is not automatically the same asset as ETH.

Keeping those labels separate prevents a common mistake: assuming that every product mentioning Ethereum has the same issuer, rules or risks.

What a smart contract does

A smart contract is software executed according to its code on the network. The term does not establish that the code is bug-free, that external information is accurate or that the application is suitable for a particular person.

Nor does a general description of smart contracts prove that a named business uses them. Claims about automated payouts or independently verified results require evidence about the specific application rather than the blockchain’s name alone.

Gas fees describe network computation

Ethereum’s gas documentation explains the resource cost of executing operations. Fees depend on the operation and network conditions. A blanket promise that Ethereum is always cheaper or faster than other payment methods is therefore inappropriate.

A network fee and a service’s own charge are separate amounts. Similarly, a transaction’s on-chain state and an application account’s status can be separate stages. This article gives no universal fee or completion time.

Public records and application security

A public blockchain should not be described as making transactions invisible. An address is not itself a guarantee of anonymity. The Ethereum security guide also warns about scams and protecting wallet access.

Do not share recovery phrases or private keys with people claiming to provide support. A familiar token symbol or a polished website cannot establish that an application is genuine or secure.

Read asset and service information separately

Our USDT explainer illustrates why an asset name and the network on which it appears are different pieces of information. None of these definitions establishes a merchant’s current support or a reader’s eligibility.

Cryptocurrency values and services carry risk. This is general technical information, not investment advice or instructions to fund gambling. Never borrow or use essential money to chase losses.
